SQL requirements
Supported SQL versions for the Lync Backend databases:
Supported Microsoft SQL Versions
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 with SP 1
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
Microsoft SQL 2005 with SP3
A new SQL database instance will be required as follows:
SQL Database Requirements
New SQL instance with the following features:
Database Engine Services
Management Tools – Basic
Management Tools – Complete
RTC SQL Database Size
8 MB, with a maximum size of 1GB for 10,000 users
Monitoring SQL Database Size
DB size = 60KB (DB growth per user per day) * 1000(Number of users) * 365(Number of days)
Collation
SQL collation settings to “Dictionary order, case-insensitive, for use with 1252 Character set” (backwards compatible)

AV          = A/V Conferencing  (collocated if Front End Server)
EV           = Enterprise Voice (Response Group Service/PSTN access), Mediation Server
